This is the 6th year The Colette A. Miles Foundation (TCAMF) will be running The Fox valley Half/Full Marathon on behalf of those diagnosed with cancer and their families. Our mission “To provide comfort and support to those diagnosed with cancer and their families.”
The last 6 years we have been the largest charity to run this race. TCAMF had 60 Runners at the starting line and raised $36,000.
On September 17th, 2017 at 7:00 a.m., TCAMF Team will once again run for a cause. The Fox Valley Half/Full Marathon takes place in downtown St. Charles (near the Blue Goose parking lot). This event is for the couch potato to seasoned runner. Official training does not start until June for the full marathon (26.2 miles) and July for the half marathon runners(13.1 miles). Some of you may be saying “I can’t even run a block.” Well, neither could the 120 new runners we have trained over the last 6 years. We run with you, you don’t run with us. We will train new runners (never ran a mile) starting in April. We will also train seasoned runners to hit their PR.
TCAMF pace leaders are passionate about helping others achieve their individual goals while making a difference in the lives of those diagnosed with cancer.
If you are asking why should I commit to this – what’s in it for me? The rewards for those who run for a cause are priceless: New friendships, a feeling of tremendous accomplishment in helping others, the thrill of crossing the finish line, and the new attitude about running and life that says, “Things could always be worse right now. At least I CAN run.” If self-pity should strike you at some point, that is what our pace leaders will remind you of. Nobody cares how fast or slow you run, you are a hero because you chose to make a difference in the lives of those battling cancer.
